You're doing it perfect... Don't look for tricks. Persistence and
practice is what helps you improve. You won't appear in the winners circle
for the first few contests, but as you continue to participate, you will find
yourself inching closer. You're using the formula that sets the winners apart
from those of us who quit too soon.
With each contest, you will discover the task becomes easier... because
it is... because you are gaining skill... because you are doing the work...
because you are being persistent... because you don't quit when it gets a bit
overwhelming... because you gots the right stuff...
I discovered a group of folks that meet most every evening between 7:30
and 9 PM EST between 3520 and 3530 KHz that blitz along at between 28 - 35
words per minute full break-in. They all seem to have good fists, and make few
errors which translates to easy copy (easier than one who makes many errors).
I find this bunch easier (meaning more enjoyable) to copy than info bulletins.
Something about eavesdropping that is intriguing I suppose :-) Actually...
Once you start to follow the conversation exchange... you can anticipate with
some accuracy which helps to build your confidence as well as your speed.
I tune them in and let them ramble on in the background. I don't really try
to copy them as I usually have other activities that demand my attention, but
I find that I start to follow threads of their conversation from time to time.
It is a fun drill to help sharpen your CW skills.
Ur doin' great my friend... Keep it up and you'll be in the big league
sooner than you think.
