Folks:

The AZ ScQRPions will be fielding 2 seperate groups for the
upcoming FYBO test.

The first group will consist of our two hearty dudes, Joe
AB7TT, and Mike NQ7K. The'll be heading up to the snow
covered mountains. Ahh, the young and adventurous!

The second group will consist of the remainder of the
ScQRPions, and any others who would like to join us
who like to be participating in the field.
Our primary purpose is to hand out as many QSO's to
as many "real" participants as possible, QRP of course.
We have a portion of the park reserved and any and
all QRP types who would like to camp with us are welcome.
Stay for an hour or for the whole contest period.

Here are the particulars for that second group:

We will be operating from White Tanks state park in the
west Phoenix AZ valley ( directions follow).
We will have several operating positions available for
any ScQRPions, or any other non-ScQRPion QRP ops who
would like to join us. You may camp as well.
The more, the merrier! The fees, if any are only a buck or two.
All roads are paved, and are accessable by any vehicle.

Floyd, NQ7X and myself will arrive on Friday 2-21
about 10:00 A.M. to do some preliminary antenna and
site set up. Several others including Kent Torell and Dan
Tayloe will be joining us early on Saturday morning, 2-22
to help in the final erection and testing of antennas.

I will be staying over at the site on both Friday
and Saturday nights.

The primary operating positions will have at least
2 seperate antennas, a long extended wire gain antenna
and an elevated vertical. We will be able to switch
between them in an attempt to get the best angle for each QSO.
There is plenty of room for several other operating positions.
You are welcome to set up your own position or use ours
when we switch off to other operators, if need be.

The contest period is from 10:00 AM on Saturday to 10:00
PM on Saturday (12 hours).

  Directions to the site:

In the west Phoenix valley go to Loop 101 and exit at
Olive. Go west for about 14 miles. You will see a small
"phone booth" looking structure, this is the entrance to
the park, usually it is unmanned. If it is manned, tell
them that you are with the AZ ScQRPion group in the overflow
area.

At this point the road's name changes to "White Tank Mountain
Road". Same road, diffrent name. Proceed for 2.5 miles until
you see "Willow Canyon Road". Turn left, you can't turn right.
There is a small sign that says "Overflow Campimg".
There is a white metal gate at this point. It should not be locked.
If it is closed, there is a bolt that is placed so tha the gate
doesn't blow open.

Proceed through the overflow campground until you almost reach the
end and see another white gate. We will be on the right (north)
side of the campground in spots 34, 36, and 38. You should be
able to see several antennas. In the small parking area is my
camper, a 1988 red and beige Ford Pickup with a bed mounted popup camper.
