Subj: TWO-WATT DX ON 40-METERS

Good morning QRP folks - -

Not being a DX'er, I totally forgot about the DX contest this weekend. Well,
late Saturday night, after watching all the MASH re-runs on the tube and still
not being tired, I went into the shack to see if anything was happening on
40-meters. Found a pile up just above 7040, and that's when I recalled the
contest. Anyway, spent a bit of time listening around, and with little effort
worked PY0FF at 0625Z, XE2L at 0631, and 6Y4A at 0724, with another QSO stuffed
in there too. Tried for fifteen minutes to work Lee, KH6BZF
(KH6_Blooming_Zipper_Flipper if you've ever worked him on phone in a contest,)
but he simply didn't hear me. He was doing a lot of CQ'ing with little success
though. Let's see, that makes four countries worked on the Sierra on
40-meters.

I'm going to be in Winter Park, CO in March on a ski trip and plan on taking
the Sierra along. Need to get the 80-meter module built before then. Actually
need to get all the other modules built too. Been slowly working on the NC38S
lately. Got all the board mounted parts installed now, including the toroids.
Gotta work on the off board parts now. Maybe I'll take it to Colorado too
although won't get much (if any) daytime operating done.

72's es 73's,

Brad, WB0CGH
