Hi Fellow QRPer's, had a ball building the 49er but when I first hooked
it up it wouldn't work right off the bat. First problem was not the 49er,
but the 1/8 inch female jacks that I bought from R.S.You guessed it, they
were shorted, and yes they were new. I wondered why the xmtr stayed keyed
all the time and why I couldn't get any audio out of the headphones! In
the meantime I had reversed polaritied the 49er! Talk about getting
frustated!!! So, I installed some new jacks and replaced the
78LO5,2N3904,and the 2SC799. Works great now and am ready to make a
contact! Now on to the 38S! Am planning on keeping both rigs stock, but
may build an outboard amplifier.Of course I will built it in an Altoids
tin so it will match my 49er!! 72, and TNX NorCal!! Tom WB5QYT qrp-l 640
