Candles for Emergency Warmth

Have been watching the thread concerning use of candle to keep warm in
a limited space. It has been suggested that candles would poison the
air with carbon monoxide. I doubt it.

If the candle is allowed to burn in an adequate oxygen environment the
resultant product should be carbon dioxide not carbon monoxide. When
you breath oxygen from the air, you exhale carbon dioxide. Added
carbon dioxide in a car or tent is not a risk at reasonable percentages
in the air. One can "drown" from the lack of oxygen. If the carbon
dioxide proportion gets too high, one will feel shortness of breath.
