Reading of the CMOS losing 'smoke" brought back memories. About 15 years
ago I was HEAVILY into VHF/UHF, living in Mississippi. I bought a GasFet to
build a preamp. At the time, the GasFet cost me almost $80 !! You guessed
it, I zapped it! My shack was in the basement, but it was a finished
basement, and carpeted. Always after that, I used to go into the attached
bathroom, and put my foot in the toilet, before touching a GasFet. Built a
lot of preamps in that bathroom sink!
