Hi Gang,
Just wondering if anyone has ever tried a center loaded dipole? What I
have in mind is this, I have room to put up a 20 M dipole here at my
shop, but would also like to use it on 30 and 40. So, I was thinking of
putting a coil in the center of the dipole to load it. Most likely would
use realys to select taps on the coil, for 20, 30 and 40.
Any advice, comments? I guess I really need to brake down and buy one of
those MFJ SWR Analyzers.
I've got a G5RV strung up now, but can't get it high enough. A good
couple of feet of the open wire lays on the ground.
BTW, Just finished etching a board to make a High-Gain Broadband Active Antenna. The circuit was in the Jan 6, 1997 issue of Electronics Design in
the "Ideas for Design" section. By using two 6 foot Al. poles, it's
claimed to cover 100 Khz to 40 Mhz with up to 26 dB of gain, depending
on the gain resistors you choose. Put a rotor on it and you can null out
QRM, provided its coming from a diffrent direction! It uses Jfets to
buffer the High impedance dipole to a Maxum MAX436 250 Mhz op amp. I'll
let you all know how it works in a day or two.
