     Here is info on antenna tuner used with the Hamstick-40....

       At resonance, although XL and CL are equal, RF resistance
         is very low, and SWR high....

       I use a simple tuner, after resonating the whip.....

           (variable) 13 turns (#22 ga. enamal wire)
           Trimmer cap Toroid
>--------||----------^^^^^^^^^----|---------------------->
           900 - 1200 pf T50-2 |
                                        | 50 ohm
 Coax from = (variable) Coax to
  Hamstick | Trimmer cap SWR Meter
                                        | 900 - 1200 pf or Rig

   I keep a screwdriver handy to re-adjust SWR for band excursions
   or for changes in temperature/humidity that can lead to SWR changes.

Antenna is quite tall....... hits low branches etc.....
