I concur with the recommendation of a center fed dipole for multiband use.
Use balanced feeders and make it as long as possible so you can tune the
maximum number of bands. If you feed a monopole (or ground plane) antenna
with open transmission line, it will definitely not be balanced and should be
considered as part of your radiating system. You could experience RFI
problems, especially if you don't always work qrp. Treat the feed like you
would a random length wire antenna. If you use 100W or more sometimes, coax
might be a better option for feeding the verticals.
