Homebrew keyer paddle construction?

A while back there was some discussion of building a homebrew non-iambic
keyer paddle using possibly a hacksaw blade as the moving element. I'm
starting construction of a combo-accessory box for my Norcal 40A that
will be the same size as the transceiver and contain a keyer/paddle,
batteries, a charger controller, a small antenna tuner, SWR meter, and
possibly a small power amplifier. I want to start the project with the
keyer paddle because it is the part that's mechanically critical. Any
suggestions or forwards of prior e-mails on the topic? Thanks,
