Jim Fitton asks about Internet connections. Delphi
offers limited access at the moment. Via Delphi you
can read mailing lists like this one, but not Internet
newsgroups like rec.radio.amateur.flamefest.
You need a terminal/computer and a modem. In many parts
of the country the telephone call is local; if you live
in the boonies you may have to pay for the call.
Delphi offers two plans: One is $20 for 20 hours + $3/mo
for Internet access as noted above. The other plan is
cheaper and fewer hours.
If you can send email, you can request info from Delphi:
INFO@Delphi.com.
I am neither a subscriber to nor an agent, affiliate or
employee of anything that even vaguely resembles Delphi.
I saw their ad and asked for more info. I'm waiting til
they get full access so I can see how much they charge
before I sign up.
You can also read mailing lists like this one through
MCI Mail, Compuserve, and, I believe, America OnLine.
If you can "telnet" from work, it's possible to access
Internet through some sites at universities, though
most of these sites really can't handle a great deal
of additional traffic.
